About Empty Nester

A woman wearing a vibrant purple dress with puffed sleeves and a matching skirt, standing inside a tent with people seated at tables in the background.

After dropping my only child off to college, I felt lost. Soon I quickly realized that parents like me were in need of support as they transition to the next chapter in life. I searched for similar communities however, I did not identify with any. As a result, Empty Nesters was born. With this group I have started the journey into finding a new purpose and passion for life.

I started this journey by first identifying what I like. I know I find fulfillment in helping people succeed because it is what I do as a career and it makes me happy.

But I also have other interests. For years I would tell people that I don’t like shopping and yet, once becoming an Empty Nester, I found myself constantly going to stores and buying things for my home. I realized that for 12 years I did not spend much time at home. I was either at work, commuting to and from places, or attending my daughter’s dance rehearsals and performances. Now, I enjoy being home, decorating, and finishing some much needed home improvements. I also enjoy working with youth and have resumed volunteering.

Throughout the years, I’ve grown to love traveling and learning about other people and their culture. This passion for travel led me to become a certified travel agent and establish my own travel company called Go On A Trip Travel Agency. This accomplishment has been two-fold in that I am able to financially prepare for retirement while also helping people create memories to last a lifetime.

Do you see the theme here? Everything I do involves people, from personal or professional development to general support. That’s where my purpose lies.
